What motivated you to work in veterinary medicine?

As a farmer I’ve worked with animals all my life

What has been your most rewarding moment working in veterinary medicine?

Seeing puppies grow up that were conceived here after progesterone timing!

If you weren’t working at a veterinary clinic, what would you do?

Lounging on a beach in Tahiti

What is the most exotic animal you have treated?

An in-house fecal on a rabbit

What animal scares you more than any other?

German Shepherds – when I was a kid my neighbor’s dog was loud and mean!

What do you consider your greatest accomplishment?

Selling bulls and embryos around the world in my dairy farming days

What do you do in your spare time?

Gardening and cooking

What is your favorite comfort food?

Deep dish pizza

What is your biggest pet peeve?

Other people’s lack of attention to detail

What animals do you currently have?

Indoors: 2 cats and 1 dog; Outside: several cats and a small heard of elite registered Holsteins

If you were to come back as an animal, what would it be and why?

A show cow – babied, pampered, and adored!

What is your favorite childhood movie and why?

The Wizard of Oz – I’ve always been a “friend of Judy”

What is your favorite childhood memory?

Showing cattle in 4H and junior Holstein

What are some things people might be surprised about?

1. I’m a PDCA accredited show judge

2. I love New York City – musicals, plays, the sounds and smells!

3. I bred a calf that was named Reserved All-American

4. I was married in a traditional Quaker ceremony as were my ancestors

5. I still live on the farm where my family settled 178 years ago
